The ArtSnacks Box for August 2019
Updated: Feb 27, 2020
In August, ArtSnacks featured an interesting new product, acrylic paints in pouches. I always like any type of acrylic paint! For those who want to try out these supplies for themselves, I have included my Amazon Affiliate links down below.
When Cutie Boots and I opened the box we saw some strange looking pouches! Naturally Cutie Boots wanted to play with them and hang his claws in the pouches. I was not sure those pouches were cat proof so I gave him the pen istead, but he didn't really want that.
The weird pouches turned out to be Sennelier Abstract Innovative acrylics! These pouches were 2 fl ozs and the paint was matte finish. The colors I received were Primary Blue and Permanent Green Light. These are available on Amazon in a set of 5 primary colors for around $23.
Next there was a half inch filbert oval wash Kingart Radiant Taklon paintbrush. This brush is available in a pack of 5 on Amazon for around $38.49.
Then there was a Winsor & Newton Fineliner pen with black ink and a 0.5 mm nib. This ink is archival and waterproof. You can find this pen in a 5 pack on Amazon for around $14.
Last there was an art supplies list, an ArtSnacks sticker, and a butterscotch DumDum lollipop. (The lollipop was good.)
Doodlin' Time!
The Sennelier acrylic paint had nice coverage and vivid colors. The Winsor Newton fineliner pen wrote very smoothly. The filbert brush made very nice strokes and the bristles made a crisp edge.
'Seascape'
by Ellie Taylor
I painted a seascape with the green and blue paint, but I had to use some of my White Acrylic Gesso to lighten the colors. I painted the sky and distant mountains with the Primary Blue color lightened with White Acrylic Gesso. For the water I used the Permanent Green Light color and the Primary Blue colors and painted the foam on the big wave with White Acrylic Gesso.
The Sennelier Abstract Soft Body paint is really colorful and vivid and the only difference between it and regular acrylic is the texture. Regular acrylics have a shiny smooth surface, but these have a matte and velvet like texture. The pouches were surprisingly strong and didn't tear easily. I like them! They make a nice painting!
