ArtSnacks Box for January 2019

For January the ArtSnacks box featured Golden acrylic paint and a new thick Stonehenge watercolor paper. Hooray! I'm always up for trying new acrylic paints! For those who want to try these supplies for themselves, I have included my Amazon and Misterart.com afiliate links.

When we opened the box, this is what we saw. Golden Acrylic Fluid paint!

We had a guest helper this time. Possum came to help. Cutie Boots says, 'What's in the box, Possum?".

The first items in the box were two 1 oz bottles of Golden Fluid acrylic paint. The two colors I received were Titan Buff and Primary Cyan. These bottles retail for around $5 to $8 depending on the color. You can find them in lots of different places including Amazon, dickblick.com, Michaels, and lots of other art stores.

Second there was a Stabilo Sensor black fineliner pen. It has an F-tip with a 0.3 mm nib. The fine tip nib retracts into the metal casing which protects the nib and makes it last longer. You can get these in a pack of 4 for around $8.10 on Amazon.

There was a brush to go along with the paint. It was a #2 round KingArt Golden Tachlon brush. This brush is available on Amazon for around $4.35.

Finally there was a small sample book of Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress 600 gsm. The 600 gsm paper is not out yet, but Stonehenge has 300 gsm coldpress paper available right now.

So what was Cutie Boots' favorite supply this time? Well, it was Possum's tail! Possum, however, was less than thrilled with that turn of events and was growling at Cutie Boots. I don't think this is going to work out, ha ha!

Then there was the supplies list, an ArtSnacks sticker, a Lifesavers candy, and an information pamphlet on KingArt brushes.

Doodlin ' Time !

The Stabilo Sensor Fineliner had a fine tip point and worked great for detail drawing. The Golden Fluid acrylic paint had very good coverage and was very opaque. The KingArt brush worked well for smaller details. The Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress was very thick paper and didn't buckle with water.

"Blue Flower Sketch"

by Ellie Taylor

I decided to do a quick paint sketch of blue flowers with the acrylics. The Golden acrylic paints are very opaque and really covered the paper. The Primary Cyan is a very strong color and a little goes a long way! It is similar to Thalo Blue. The Titan Buff color was very opaque for a white color and worked great for mixing with the Cyan color and making lighter shades of blue. I used the Stabilo Sensor pen to draw some sketchy details and it drew just fine over the acrylic paint. I really like the 600 gsm Stonehenge paper because it's so thick and sort of like painting on a canvas.

I really liked the supplies in this box and the Golden acrylics were really high quality. I would like to find some more 600gsm Stonehenge paper, but it doesn't seem to be out yet.

If you want to try out this subscription box company, their website is http://www.artsnacks.co/ The boxes start at $24 a month with free shipping to the United States. International shipping is available for $34 with free shipping.
