The Art Tarte Box for August 2018

The Art Tarte Box for August featured origami supplies including some colorful paper, pens, and pencils. For those who want to try these supplies out for themselves, I have included my Amazon and MisterArt affiliate links down below. My Amazon UK and Canada links are included as well.

The August Art Tarte Box was decorated with neat paint strokes.

Cutie Boots was immediately attracted to the Tootsie Roll Pop.

The card for this month featured an origami bird design with a watercolor background.

There were ten sheets of brightly colored origami paper. Origami paper is thin so that it is easy to fold, but you can color or paint on it if you don't use a lot of liquid with your medium. You can find this paper on Amazon in a pack of 300 or 500 6X6 inch sheets.

Next there was a 30ml bottle of Golden Fluid Acrylic paint with an screw top applicator. The color I got was Benzimidazolone Yellow Medium. (Wow! That's a mouthful to say! Glad I'm just writing it!)

This paint is available on Amazon and dickblick.com from $5.17 to $11.26.

This is Hansa Yellow Light. I can't find the Benzimidazolone Yellow Medium on Amazon UK or Canada, but it is similar in color.

There were some cute sticky notes in the shape of a paper airplane and the box contained some origami stars for decoration.

Cutie Boots thought the origami stars were fun to play with!

Then there was an OOLY Rainbow Mechanical Pencil which had a blue colored pencil lead in it. I've never seen this type of pencil before, but apparently they can be found on Amazon in a pack of 12 colors for $8.65. Lead refills can also be bought.

Art Tarte also included a regular lead pencil with their name stamped on it.

The next item was a Derwent metallic watercolor pencil. The color was Pewter. This color is available in a set of 12 metallic Derwent watercolor pencils for $9.56.

Next, there was a green felt tip Le Pen. This pen is available in a pack of 12 for $14.39 on Amazon.

Next there was a Princeton Synthetic Round #2 paintbrush. You can find Princeton Synthetic Round brushes on Misterart.com for $2.09 when you join their VIP club.

Then there was a card with a quote from Picasso on it, a supplies list, and a banana flavored Tootsie Pop.

Doodlin ' Time!

The green Le Pen wrote smoothly and also made nice fine lines. I tested the Derwent Metallic watercolor pencil and it dissolved very nicely with water. The Ooly Rainbow mechanical pencil seemed to have a nice soft colored pencil lead in it and was a very pretty blue color. The Golden Fluid Acrylic paint had nice coverage. Golden Acrylic paint is a very good quality paint.

Paper Craftin' Time!

I used to do origami when I was in high school. I had a book that showed how to do a bird with flapping wings, a frog, a rabbit, and lots of neat stuff, but now I only remember how to make a salt cellar or (color picker as we called it in school). So here it is and I decorated it with yellow flowers. I used the OOLY Rainbow Mechanical Pencil to make a blue background around the flower. I painted the petals of the flowers with the acrylic paint and drew the stem and centers with the green LePen. I painted flowers on the outside and inside of the salt cellar (or color picker). To make a proper color picker one should probably put different flowers on the outside and inside.

This box was neat because it showcased origami supplies and had some nice paint.

You can get this box on a monthly subscription. The boxes start at $25 a month with free shipping for the USA. I think they offer international shipping, but they don't say if it is free or not. Check them out at https://www.arttarte.co/
