September 2018 ArtSnacks Box
For September the ArtSnacks box had high quality M. Graham watercolor paint and Zebra Zensations waterproof pens! For those who want to try out some of these supplies for themselves, I have included my Amazon and MisterArt affiliate links down below. My Amazon UK and Canada links are included as well.
When we opened the box this is what we saw! Pens and more pens!
Cutie Boots started fishing out the bubble gum.
Cutie Boots wanted to try these first.
So the first items in the box were Zebra Zensations brush pens with black ink. These pens were water resistant and came in three nib sizes: Medium, Fine, and Ultra Fine. You can find these on Amazon.com for around $2.49.
Second, there was a Faber Castell Albrecht Durer Magnus watercolor pencil. This pencil has a 5.3 mm core and is thicker than normal pencils which makes a more ergonomic grip. The color I received was Emerald. These watercolor pencils are available at Amazon in a tin of 12 for $30.75 or open stock on dickblick.com for $2.39.
The star of the show was a 15ml tube of M. Graham Artist's Watercolor. I received Azo Orange. This brand of watercolors is highly pigmented and they use honey for their binder. This color retails for around $9.17 to $10.76 on Amazon and dickblick.com. However, you can also get it in a Marinescape set with 5 colors for $34.00 on Amazon.
To go with the watercolor there was a Princeton Synthetic Sable Round #0. This brush had a very fine tip. It can be found for as low as $2.25 on Misterart.com when you join their VIP club.
Then there was the supplies list, an ArtSnacks sticker, and a sour bubble gum ball.
Doodlin ' Time!
The Zebra Zensations brush pens seemed to have durable tips and made nice thin lines. The Faber-Castell watercolor pencil was comfortable to hold and the pigment dissolved very nicely. The M. Graham watercolor was very bright and pigmented. The Princeton brush was good for making fine details.
'Pumpkin Patch'
by Ellie Taylor
Since it is the fall season and the colors that I received were orange and green, I naturally thought of pumpkins. So I did a quick sketch of a pumpkin patch. I used the Azo Orange M. Graham watercolor to paint the pumpkins. This watercolor makes a very pretty thin wash for lighter colors, but is still thick enough to make a darker color for the shadowed parts. The Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer Magnus watercolor pencil made a nice pretty green for the pumpkin vines and dissolved nicely for the background wash. I used the Zebra Zensations pens for the final details on the vines and pumpkins.
This month's ArtSnacks box had some really high quality supplies in it! I really enjoyed using all of them and I have been wanting to get some M. Graham watercolors for a long time. I definitely like them and will get some more in the future.
