July 2018 ScrawlrBox

For July the Scrawlrbox was all about Bullet Journaling. I have to admit that I don't know much about bullet journaling so this box was kind of a mystery to me. Fortunately ScrawlrBox included a pamphlet to show what all the materials were. For those who want to try out some of these supplies for themselves, I have included my Amazon Affiliate links down below including my UK and Canada links.

When you open the box this is what you see! Ink stamps of art supplies!

Cutie Boots said, "There's no cat food in here!".

The first objects I received were the ink stamps and a clear acrylic block. I had no idea what the clear acrylic block was for until I watched some unboxings of this box on YouTube.  The vinyl ink stamps stick on the clear block and it makes a stamp block. Then you can interchange your stamps. These stamps are made especially for ScrawlrBox and have bullet journaling stamps, art supplies, and ScrawlrBox logos.

The second items in the box were two Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens. The colors I received were Turquoise and Grey. I assume these were for writing or sketching in your journal. You can find these at Amazon in a pack of 10 for $9.85. These pens are also available in packs of 20, 36, 42, and 50.

Then there was a Faber-Castell Pitt Artist brushpen. The color was Ice Blue and the ink is lighfast and waterproof. These are available on Amazon in a group of 6 for $11.95.

The next item was a Pentel Energel Rollerball pen with a 0.7 mm nib. It has a nice ergonomic grip on it for writing in your journal. The ink is black and it writes very smoothly. This pen retails for around  $13 for a pack of 8.

There was also another brush pen and it was an Edding 1340 with black ink. This pen was included for brushing the ink on the stamps. It can be found on Amazon in a pack of 10 for $19.99.

Cutie Boots didn't have a favorite. He liked all the pens.

There was also a small ScrawlrBox journal with DotGrid pages inside. Also there was a sheet of stickers that you could cut out and put on your journal.  The stickers consisted of tabs for each month or day of the week and topics for your journal pages such as To Do lists or Reminders.

Here is the pamphlet that explains what all the supplies are used for in bullet journaling. It also shows how to set up a bullet journal.

Finally there was a coloring type of page and an example of how to decorate it. The featured artist was Carolina Ghelfi who designed and made the ink stamps.

There was also the art supplies list, a ScrawlrBox sticker, and some Haribo gummy strawberries. This brand of candy is good and can be found in the US too!

Doodlin' (Or Journaling) Time!

The pens are very nice for sketching or just writing. The Energel Rollerball pen writes nice and smooth. The Triplus Fineliner pens have pretty colors and work great for quick sketches. The Faber-Castell Pitt brush pen works well for a highlighter or coloring your sketches. The Edding brush pen worked great for brushing ink on the stamps or quick freehand sketches.

The stamps are neat and have some cute designs. The bigger stamps are for setting up your journal with the month and date and adding your lists and notes.  Then there are some little stamps with a crayon, paint tube, marker, a tack, a pencil, and a supplies pouch. Last there were some stamps with the ScrawlrBox logos and motto. I used the Edding 1340 brush pen to ink these stamps and try them out. It worked fine, but if you are going to do a lot of stamping, I would recommend getting an ink pad. An ink pad will be much easier and quicker. Plus you can get all kinds of ink and different colors.

So here is my attempt at bullet journaling. I used the month and date stamp in the ScrawlrBox DotGrid journal for August. For that you just color in the month and dates of your particular month and leave ink off the others. Then I used the Note Stamp for a To Do list. I wrote my list in Turquoise ink with the Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pen. For decorations I stamped some of the art supplies on the page and colored them with Faber-Castell Pitt brush pen and the grey Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pen. It's just a simple example of a bullet journal and not very fancy. I will confess that when I make lists, I just scrawl notes on a piece of paper. (And not very neatly either, haha!) However, there are a lot of artists and crafters who make beautiful bullet journals and have turned it into an artform. There are tons of videos on YouTube showing how they do this. It's just not really my thing, but I did have lots of fun with the ink stamps and these pens are really nice for sketching. I think it's important to step outside your comfort zone and try new art stuff, so I appreciate this box for helping me to do that.

Check out the ScrawlrBox at  http://scrawlrbox.uk/  They start at £15 a month with free shipping in the UK. Everyone else pays shipping costs. For the US, the total cost is roughly $25 to $30 including the shipping cost.
