The July 2018 ArtSnacks Box

For July the ArtSnacks Box featured watercolor ink, a new ergonomic brush, and a new Copic pen! For those who want to try these out for themselves, I have included my Amazon affiliate links down below. I have also included my Amazon UK and Canada links separately because the Onelink code doesn't seem to be working on this blog.

When the box is opened this is what one sees. Hmmm, watercolor ink, that's interesting! I have been thinking about trying out a watercolor ink.

The main item was a bottle of Marabu Graphix Aqua Ink. The color I got was Magenta and the bottle size was 15 ml. You can get this bottle of ink in the ArtSnacks store for $3.99 at https://shop.artsnacks.co/products/marabu-graphix-aqua-ink

The next item was a Weber Museum Emerald Artist brush. This brush is a #6 flat with an ergonomic grip on the handle. This brush retails for around $4.49 to $7.99 and is available at thebrushguys.com or the ArtSnacks store.

Third there was a new Copic item, a Copic Drawing Pen. This pen is different from other copic pens in that it has a fountain pen style nib. This pen has a dye based ink so it is not waterproof. It retails for around $7.78 on Amazon.

Then there was a Molotow ONE4ALL Acrylic Twin marker with a 1.4 mm nib and a 4 mm nib. The color I received was Traffic Red. These markers can be found for $7.50 on Amazon. They can also be found open stock on Amazon UK and Canada. These markers can be refilled and have interchangeable nibs.

Lastly there was a paper sampler of Grumbacher watercolor. You can get a 9X12 inch pad of 12 sheets for around $10.77 on Amazon.

Then there was the supplies list, an ArtSnacks sticker, and a cherry flavored Laffy Taffy.

Doodlin' Time!

The Marabu Graphix Aqua Ink is indeed water soluble and washes out of your pants after you spill it all over your leg. I don't know what happens if you don't wash it out immediately because I threw my pants in the water as soon as I could. Incidentally, it also spreads well on watercolor paper. The Copic Drawing pen really does write like a fountain pen and is really fun to use. The Molotow ONE4ALL Acrylic Twin marker has good coverage and is opaque. I really like these acrylic markers. The Grumbacher watercolor paper is nice and thick.

'Apple House'

by Ellie Taylor

So I did a quick sketch of a worm in an apple and was going to use the Marabu Graphix Aqua Ink for the background. However, I spilled the ink all over the drawing (and my leg) so I just made a watercolor wash over the whole sketch. Then I painted the apple with the Molotow acrylic pen. I let the ink and paint dry and inked the sketch of the apple and worm. I like the watercolor ink, but I should have put the lid back on it. I guess this is why I like pens and markers best because they don't spill as easily, haha! However, that's just part of art, sometimes it's messy!

Cutie Boots draws this way! The Copic Drawing pen was his favorite supply in the box!

This was a neat box with some new products and I really enjoyed the Copic Drawing pen too.

If you want to try out this subscription box company, their website is http://www.artsnacks.co/ The boxes start at $24 a month with free shipping to the United States. International shipping is available for $34 with free shipping.
