February 2018 ArtSnacks Box
The ArtSnacks Box for February 2018 featured watercolor tools. This box had some premium Sennelier watercolors this month. I have included my Amazon Affiliate links down below for those who want to try these supplies themselves.
This is what you see when you open all the packaging. Yippee! Sennelier watercolors!
The first items that caught my attention were the Sennelier French Artist's Watercolor 10 ml tubes. These are high quality watercolors made with honey. The colors I received were Lemon Yellow and Titanium White. You can get LemonYellow in a 21 ml tube for $9.98 on Amazon or a 10 ml tube on dickblick.com for $7.05. Titanium White in a 10 ml tube is available on Amazon for $7.98.
Next there was a Raphael Mini Precision Brush. This brush has a very short handle and at first, I thought it was broken. However, it is just made this way so that it can fit in travel palettes. The brush was a synthetic #2 flat. This is available on Amazon for around $9.95.
Then there was a 2H Faber-Castell Goldfaber sketching pencil. A set of 6 Faber-Castell pencils are available at Amazon for $9.97.
Finally there was a new Sakura pen made for everyday sketching. This pen is a Pigma Micron PN with a plastic nib and is archival and waterproof. This pen retails for around $2.89 on Amazon and dickblick.com.
Lastly there was the supplies list, a sample of Fabriano Artistico Watercolor paper 140 lb, an ArtSnacks sticker, and some Sweetarts candy. You can find a block of 5X7 inch cold press Fabriano Artistico watercolor paper on Amazon for $12.20.
Doodlin' Time!
The Pigma Micron PN pen writes smoothly and the Faber-Castell pencil works fine for light sketches. The Sennelier watercolors are very pigmented and high quality. The Raphael mini brush makes nice brushstrokes and the cold press paper seems to accept watercolor very well.
'Yellow Butterfly'
by Ellie Taylor
I used the Faber-Castell pencil to make the initial sketch and then painted the butterfly and flower with yellow and white paint. I added the final details with the Pigma Micron PN pen.
This box was very nice because I have been wanting to try Sennelier watercolors and I really like them. They remind me of the M. Graham watercolors which are also made with honey.
