ArtSnacks Box for December 2017

The ArtSnacks Box for December has arrived and it has lots of stuff to make designs for Christmas! If you want to try some of these supplies for yourself, I have my Amazon Affiliate links listed down below.

When you open the box this is what's inside. Looks like a Krink paint marker is included this time.

The first item I received was a set of four Bruynzeel colored pencils. The colors in this set were pink and red shades. These colored pencils are available on Amazon in several different sets including a set of twelve for $8.19.

Second there was a gold metallic Caran d'Ache marker.  This marker has a water soluble ink and a bullet nib. You can get a set of 15 Caran d'Ache markers at Amazon for $21.70 or open stock at dickblick.com for $2.39 a piece.

Next there was a KRINK K-32 acrylic paint marker. The color of the marker was black with a chisel nib. This marker retails for around $11.00 on Amazon.

Then there was a 0.25 mm Pentel Slicci Gel pen. This pen has a gel ink and the color I received was green.  This pen is available in a set of eight on Amazon for $17.66.

Last there were some samples of Grumbacher Mixed Media paper. This paper is 185 gsm and works for wet and dry media. You can find different pads sizes at Amazon including a 7X10 inch pad of 50 sheets for $8.50.

Then there was the art supplies list, a peppermint stick, and a cute ArtSnacks sticker with snowflakes on it.

Doodlin' Time!

The gel pen has a really fine nib and writes smoothly. The Bruynzeel colored pencils have good coverage. The Caran d'Ache gold marker has a nice bright gold color and the KRINK marker has a nice thick paint. The Grumbacher paper is pretty thick and seems to work well with the colored pencils and markers. It has a smoother texture than cold press watercolor paper.

'Cowboy Santa Ink Sketch'

by Ellie Taylor

I made a quick color sketch of a Cowboy Santa Claus design that I created for Christmas ornaments last year. I did the initial sketch with the gel pen and colored Santa's face and hat with the Bruynzeel colored pencils. They seemed to blend together well. Then I used the Caran d'Ache marker for the hat brim. I used the KRINK acrylic marker to outline the sketch. The nib is too big for fine details, but you can get a sketchy look with the chisel nib. This month's box had some nice supplies for making Christmas designs.

If you want to try out this subscription box company, their website is http://www.artsnacks.co/  The boxes start at $24 a month with free shipping to the United States. International shipping is available, but it is not free.
