April 2017 ArtSnacks Box

It's time for another ArtSnacks box! April's subscription box contains a Winsor Newton watercolor marker, a water brush, and more. For those of you who want to try out these supplies, I have included my affiliate links for Amazon and MisterArt down below.

When you open up the box this what you see. Good stuff!

The first item I received was a Kuretake waterbrush! I love these things! For me, you can never have too many waterbrushes. This brush has a medium tip. These waterbrushes retail for around $4.86 on Amazon.

The second item that I got was a Winsor Newton watercolor marker. I like these a lot and in fact, I have nearly the whole set! The color I received was Quinacridone Magenta. If you are a member of the MisterArt VIP club, these markers are available at $3.35.

The next item was a lavender Copic multiliner with a 0.3 mm tip. This ink is highly pigmented and waterproof. You can find a set ten for $37.76 at Amazon. These pens also sell at dickblick.com for $2.39 a piece.

The last item was a Pentel GraphGear 800 mechanical pencil with 0.5 mm lead. This is a really nice pencil with an ergonomic group and very nice balance. It sells for $9.47 on Amazon.

As always a sticker and the item list were included. The candy was a piece of Dubble Bubble gum just like I used to chew as a kid. That was a fun nostalgic item!

Doodlin' Time

Most of these supplies I already own or have a variation of them, but I don't mind getting more. The Copic multiliner makes nice thin lines and doesn't smear. I really like the ergonomic feel of the Pentel GraphGear mechanical pencil and it makes very fine lines. The Winsor Newton watercolor marker is very nice for using as a marker or as watercolor. The Kuretake waterbrush was easy to fill and has a nice pointed brush tip.

'Toadstool and Butterfly Sketch'

by Ellie Taylor

I used the art supplies to make a quick sketch of a pink and purple toadstool and butterfly. The Winsor Newton watercolor marker is highly pigmented and behaved just like regular watercolor paint when I used the waterbrush on it. The Copic multiliner didn't bleed even when I drew on still wet paper. I used Winsor Newton watercolor paper for this sketch. This was a very nice box with quality supplies this month and I will definitely be using these items a lot. If you want to try out this subscription box company, their website is http://www.artsnacks.co/ The boxes start at $24 a month with free shipping to the United States. International shipping is available, but it is not free.

Michaels also has some of these art supplies and you can use their weekly coupon to get good deals on markers and stuff.
