My Latest ScrawlrBox Review

I have just received a new ScrawlrBox. Although I just now got it at the end of March 2017, I think this was supposed to be the February 2017 box. That means my previous post's box was January's 2017 box, I guess. I don't know, I'm confused! All I know is that there was some really neat stuff in the latest box including some Amsterdam acrylic paint, paintbrushes, and more! So it doesn't matter which month it was supposed to be because these are very nice supplies. If you want to try some these art supplies I have included my Amazon and MisterArt affiliate links down below.

When you open the box this is what you see. Yay! Acrylic paint!

The first items in the box were four tubes of Amsterdam acrylic paint. I received four colors: Naples Yellow Red, Azo Yellow Light, Burnt Sienna, and Oxide Black. This brand was formerly known as Van Gogh Acrylics.

The second item that I received was a black Toma acrylic marker. It has a chisel nib. These markers are from Poland and seem to only be available there.

The next item was a Pentel Fiesta 0.7 mm mechanical pencil. You can get a set of five at Amazon.

The next item was a set of Seawhite Golden Synthetic brushes. There are four brushes in this set: a #10 flat brush, a #8 round, a #4 round, and a #2 round. This brand of brushes seems to be available only in the UK so it's neat that we can try them out here in the USA through the ScrawlrBox

There were two sheets of 5X7 inch Fabriono Pittura 400 gsm acrylic paper. This paper is mainly available in the UK. You can get it from this UK company, https://www.jacksonsart.com/ They have international shipping.

Last there was a heart shaped lollipop (watermelon flavored), a paper palette, the ScrawlrBox sticker, a print by the artist of the month, and the items list. The artist of the month was Annatomix. Check out her work at www.annatonix.com

Doodlin' Time

The Amsterdam acrylic paints are nice and thick with good coverage. The Toma acrylic marker has good coverage too. However, the paint is very runny when you pump the nib so I only use it for big areas of paint. The Pentel Fiesta 0.7 mm pencil is very nice for sketching. The Seawhite brushes keep their shape very well.

'Easter Morning'

Available for sale in my ebay store at http://stores.ebay.com/ellietaylorartist

Since acrylic is one of my main painting mediums, I decided to paint one of my silhouette paintings for my ebay store. I really like the thick coverage that I get with these acrylics. The theme of the ScrawlrBox challenge was 'new beginnings' so I thought an Easter painting about the resurrection of Jesus Christ would be a good way to show a new beginning. I used the Tomo marker for the black silhouette and since the paint was so runny, I used my paintbrushes to spread the paint. The round brushes are pretty good for painting in details and the flat brush worked well to blend the sky. The 400 gsm Fabriano paper is nice and thick and doesn't warp, but I wasn't overly fond of the texture. I like my acrylic paper a little smoother. The paper quality is really good though and that's just my personal preference on texture. The mechanical pencil was perfect for making the beginning sketch. I really like these Amsterdam acrylic paints and I will be getting more of them! I think these will work great on denim purses and shirts too!

This was another great box with some very nice supplies that are not available in the US. Check out the ScrawlrBox at http://scrawlrbox.uk/ They start at £15 a month with free shipping in the UK. Everyone else pays shipping costs and for the US the total cost is roughly $25 including the shipping cost.
