My Review for the January 2017 ScrawlrBox

I have just received the January 2017 art subscription ScrawlrBox. It is bursting full of awesome art supplies this month!

When you open the box, here is what you see! Wow! Look at all that neat stuff! The theme of this month's box  is coloring.

The first thing in the box was two Spectrum Noir Colorista Markers. These markers are double sided with a fine bullet nib and an ultra fine bullet nib. The colors I received were orange and green. These pens have alcohol based ink and can blend together. You can find these Colorista markers at Walmart or on Amazon.

The next supply was a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen. This is a brush pen filled with glitter. This pen works by brushing a clear glitter over a marker or colored pencil. This makes a shiny glittery sheen over your work. This pen will work very nicely for craft projects such as cards. You can find these pens at Amazon, Michaels, or Walmart.  I recommend watching this YouTube video from Crafter's Companion to see how to use this brush https://youtu.be/ALPldggsesM

Next I received the Sakura Identi Pen. This pen is waterproof and fade resistant.

The Sakura Identi Pen is double sided with two bullet nibs and their sizes are fine and extra fine. The ink is black in this pen. You can find these pens at Amazon and DickBlick.

There was also a pack of 8 Spectrum Noir Colorista Pencils. The colors are 2 pinks, 2 yellows, green, blue, orange, and purple. This was Set 6.  You can get different colored sets at Amazon or Walmart.

And for the grand finale ScrawlrBox included a miniature coloring book. This is the Spectrum Noir Colorista A6 Marker Pad. It has 20 small coloring pages and includes 4 foil and 4 glitter sheets. You can get this marker pad or the other versions at Amazon or Walmart.

There was also a print featuring the artist of the month, Rebecca Loechler. She is an illustrator and does beautiful design work. ScrawlrBox also included a line version of her print for everyone to color. The bookmark lists all the supplies in the box and since the theme was coloring pages, the challenge this month was to make your own coloring page. They provided two pieces of watercolor paper that you can use to make your own coloring page.  There was also a cd-rom that you could watch about the Spectrum Noir products and of course the trademark ScrawlrBox sticker.

Lastly there was a Werther's butterscotch candy in the box. I love these candies!

 Doodlin' Time!

I really liked the Sakura Identi Pen. It makes a very fine line and it has archival ink. The Spectrum Noir Colorista Markers seem to blend well and they have good coverage. The Spectrum Noir Colorista Pencils have nice colors and when brushed over with the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen have a nice sparkle. The Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen really works well over colored pencils and markers. There are more colors in this Sparkle Pen line.

Here I colored one of the glitter coloring pages from the Spectrum Noir A6 Marker Pad. It works fine for coloring with markers and colored pencils. This month's box was a lot of fun!

I like coloring pages and I have designed a couple already using the Infinite Painter app. If you are interested you can get them at my Bonanza Store.

Once again ScrawlrBox was very good. Check them out at www.scrawlrbox.uk  They start at £15 a month with free shipping in the UK. Everyone else pays shipping costs and for the US that is roughly $25 including the shipping cost.
