Review for the ArtSnacks Box January 2017

This month I decided to try out the ArtSnacks Subscription Box. I have just received the January 2017 box and it's full of all kinds of neat stuff! If you want to try some of these supplies or something similar,  I have included my Amazon Affiliate links down below in this post.

Here is the ArtSnacks Box with their cute little pretzel pencil logo on it.

This is what you see when you open up the box!

The first items were some Golden High Flow Acrylics. The colors I got were fluorescent orange and fluorescent green. These bottles have a tapered tip that you can use to draw with. These acrylics differ from tube acrylics in that they are fluid enough to be used with dip pens or empty pump markers. These retail from $4.79 to $7.99  for 1 fluid oz. depending on where you buy them. Dickblick.com carries these fluorescent colors too.

The next item I received was a Koh-I-Noor Magnum Black Star Pencil.  This pencil has a bigger diameter than regular sizes which makes it more ergonomic, especially for people with arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a dark lead pencil. The price retails from $1.85 to $6.25. Walmart.com sells these in bulk. You can also get them at Amazon.com or Pencils.com.

You can also buy these pencils in bulk at Amazon.

The exclusive item this month was a Zig Art and Graphic Twin RB+F pen. RB stands for Real Brush and F is for Felt Tip. This pen is not out in stores yet, but the current version of the double tipped pen has a rubber brush nib and small bullet nib. There is also a Real Brush Pen series with a single tip and I really like these. These Real Brush tips are like actual paintbrushes. I am so excited for this new series to come out!

These are the current Zig Art and Graphic pens available. I love this brand of pens and they have archival ink pens, too!

To go along with the acrylic paints, ArtSnacks included a Princeton Snap! series paintbrush. These brushes are made of synthetic material and are very nice for painting. They are also a budget friendly brand, but still very nice quality. These retail from $2.51 to $9.99. You can find them at DickBlick, Amazon, and pretty much any arts and crafts store.

The last items were the lifesaver candy and the ArtSnacks logo sticker.

Also, in the box was the bookmark that lists all the supplies in the box and a pamphlet on Golden High Flow Acrylic Paint.

Doodlin' Time

The Koh-I-Noor Pencil is comfortable to hold and it makes a nice dark line perfect for shading. The Zig marker is very nice and makes fine thin lines and brush-like strokes. I definitely want this series when it comes out. I like the Golden acrylics and the flourescent colors are very bright. These acrylic paints seem to have a good opacity and nice coverage. The Princeton brush makes a nice pointed stroke and I will be using it for detail work in my paintings.

Overall this was a really nice box with some new and exclusive art supplies. ArtSnacks is a fun and budget friendly subscription box. They start out with a monthly subscription of $24 with free shipping to the United States. They also ship internationally. Check them out at www.artsnacks.co.
